training programs
The Ramón Areces Foundation has three main grant programs: an annual scholarship program that allows graduate students and PhD holders to continue their studies abroad; an annual scholarship program for the children of the El Corte Inglés Group's employees that is assigned by the Joint Committee of the César Rodríguez and the Ramón Areces Foundations; and the financial support of different training excellence programs that are carried on by other institutions. In 2020, the Foundation allocated a total of 7,526,660 EUR for these scholarship programs.
In the call for scholarships to extend studies abroad corresponding to the 2020-2021 academic year, a total of 306 applications were received, 35 new scholarships were awarded, and 20 extensions were approved. The Foundation allocated €2,425,560 for this training program.
In 2020, the Joint Committee of the César Rodríguez and the Ramón Areces Foundations allocated a total of €3,994,225 to the program for the children of the El Corte Inglés Group's employees.
Finally, €1,106,875 were allocated to finance Excellence Scholarship programs promoted by prestigious institutions, research centers and universities. Among others, the Autonomous University of Madrid; Fero Foundation, the Center for Genomic Regulation; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation; the AECID; the Fulbright-Spain Commission; ESADE; University Carlos III of Madrid; Atapuerca Foundation; Center for Monetary and Financial Studies (CEMFI); Oviedo University; Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Friends of the University of Navarra Foundation; IESE International Foundation, Spanish Economic Association, and Carolina Foundation.
Likewise, in the field of excellence training, the Ramón Areces Foundation sponsors four Chairs: the Alfredo Kraus Singing Chair at the Reina Sofía School of Music, the Commercial Distribution Chair at the University of Oviedo, and the Luis de Camoens and Biomedical Engineering Chairs, both at the Carlos III University of Madrid.
