Synopsis
To commemorate the five-hundredth anniversary of the discovery of the new world, the John Carter Brown Library of Providence, USA, organized a grand bibliographical exhibit on Spanish historiography in America, where a good number of valuable editions could be admired, some of them genuine bibliographic rarities printed in the 16th and 17th centuries. A catalog of the show was printed, subsidized by the Ramón Areces Foundation, in English and Spanish versions.
The result is this manual that will prove useful to both specialists and any reader interested in culture. It offers a consistent panoramic overview of the great historiographical legacy on the first two hundred years of the relationship between Spain and America.
